These are my past blog entries, here you will be able to trace my progress of how i’ve come to the current stage of this project i will continue to add new contentent and news as and when it happens.

January 29th

Ok this is my first entry to, I’ve used dream-weaver a few times in the past and have a relatively average grasp of its capabilities so I’m pretty excited about using web2.0 software as its new and gaining a lot of attention at the moment due it its popularity.

I’m starting this module fairly late on as video this year has taken up a lot of time as it involved a week long film shoot in Prague, so I’m a bit behind and need to catch up! Although I’m comfortable with using dreamweaver, I’ve never actually used html on its own and don’t really know much about how to install plugins so this is going to be a challenge!

I’ve been looking through a number of themes in the directory and finally chose one and designed my own banner for, however, unfortunately this theme did not support widgets which I needed to install as part of the marking criteria so I had to find another to install, after a long search for a suitable theme I was approached by my final project group members who had a suggestion that we make online portfolios for the company we are going to register.

19th February

I’ve been finding it hard to use html recently and have had and have been having problems when I view my page at home, I use a mac so I’m not sure if using safari is maybe a cause of these errors I wont be able to find out until I go back into ellen terry and use a PC.

February 28th

As you can see i am currently having issues with my blog page, i’m working on it and it should soon be looking normal, I have to go into my presentation settings and find where the font size is stored and change it to a size better suited for the design of this page.

Ok at this current stage my web2.0 wont let me correct the messed up code! i’ll continue trying though but it wont even let me remove code, it says I don’t have permission which is really strange and has to be some kind of corruption, I’m going to leave as it may be a problem with my server, I will return to it at a later date and try again.

Rats! I still cant remove the html which has moved everything about in my header, I’ll email the tutors and let them know what’s happening.

March 5th

It seems my header wasn’t faulty after it was just the difference in web browser, I use a Mac version of firefox at home (due to their general superiority ) and when I use it the alignment of my header is all over the place, however, when I used internet explorer this morning everything was normal….. Never mind….best carry on now!

anyway just to add, i’ve learn how to insert images into posts now too, this was easier then i thought it would be, in the dash board you simply click mange, the posts or pages depending on where you are postingthe image, then 1 CLICK “browse” to find the image, 2 CLICK “upload” your image appears as html code on the page and you place it where you want it. The picture blow shows what i mean.

March 5th

I’ve added zoom clouds today this can be found on my about page, I installed this wrong as I did not use a plugin but for some freak reason the coding I added is working, I’ve talked about it with Mez and we cant understand why its working but we just know that it is working lol.
Anyway the image above is also a link so if you want a zoom cloud on your page you can follow the instructions found on the site.

March 7th

I’m trying to upload some videos onto youtube but he file size is too large so I’m going to bring them into uni on disc and try put them onto avid then re-export them so that I can then load them onto youtube and link them to my page.

March 10th

Still having trouble with compressing the video to a suitable size, using new software now anyway i’m hoping to have 2 or 3 up on here by the end of next week.

March 11th

ok finally managed to compress my videos! I uploaded them onto youtube which after uploading gave me a code (the above image) which allows me to imbed the video within my pages coded settings. I should have them up a lot sooner then I first expected. i am now selecting a music track to play as back ground music for my page.

Ok today I’ve added Snap Previews, I’m finally get the hang of this and I’m enjoying it a lot more too. The above image is a link to the website where you can find out how to add it to your word press .

March 15th

Google map
ok currently having loads of issues with the google map for some reason I added it but then its vanished so i’m going to start again. I’ve deactivated and uninstalled the plugin and downloaded it again just in case the one I had had an error in it, I’e uploaded it into my local server and my remote one and reactivated it and now I’m going to follow the instructions once more very carefully to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

March 19th

Added audio file and flash player plugins
Today I added a music track from www.audiogalaxy.com this page provides you with a source code which you can install into the code settings of your page, you also need to have installed and activated the plugin for it to work.
The flash game I added was after finding a link from Mez’s page I downloaded the plugin I then found a game on www.miniclip.com, to extract the code for the game I had to right click and view the source then find where the swf file was located I then copied that code and imbedded it onto my page.

April 11th

Over the past month in my spare time I have been doing a few tutorials on after effects, I’ve added two draft company indents which you can find on my about page, hope you like them!

ok i’ve moved this to my “about” page now i’ve managed to get a map uo but for some reason its Brazil and not Guildford lol, at least its starting to work a bit better now, i’m sure i’ll get this sorted!
